Well, Rio de Janeiro during Carnaval was certainly and entertaining trip. Lots of boozing and so forth was done. Didn't get much in the way of pictures in the scantily clad women variety, mainly because if you take a camera out you have to be very wary to avoid losing it (having it stolen) during Carnaval.
The pictures:
The Copacabana Palace, which funnily enough, is on the beachfront at Copacabana :-)

Glenn, Melanie in the background in the blue, and Mark (cut off on the side). This is on the beach in Copacabana after we all had gone for a little swim. This was probably not long after an american guy had his wallet nicked right in front of us (without us even twigging!)

Part of one of the street parades in the centre city. This one is on Avienda Rio Branco which is basically the main road in Rio, running North/South.

Amy tries on an alternative hairstyle :-) not entirely sure whose hand that is, but its not mine.

The other end of the same street parade.

The "House of the Pharmacist" - built in the old part of Rio, near a creek going into the river Carioca. At least, that's what I think the guide said - he really did speak an interesting mix of Portuguese/English.

Looking over Rio from near the Christo Rendentor (Christ the Redeemer) statue. The big rock is the Pao de Açucar (there are a few accents missing there I think) - the "Sugarloaf"

Looking out over the Lake (whose name escapes me) to the beaches at Ipanema and Leblon in the distance.

Some of the local residents...

The statue Christo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) which overlooks Rio.

The "I was there" shot

I am still not 100% sure where this was - somewhere near Botafogo I think...
